The theme of this work is a twilight scene seen from the window of the Enoshima Electric Railway on Route 134, which runs along the Kamakura coast, depicted at twilight in autumn and winter.
This work may be the last time that an artist can devote a large amount of time every day to painting, and I thought to myself how wonderful it would be if I could continue to devote myself to painting new works.
About the technique
Influenced by the pointillism technique advocated by Seurat in the 1880s, this work is at once intellectual, cold, and mechanical. The intellectual, cold, and mechanical impression that he gets once he sees it is unforgettable, and he began to learn pointillism on his own. He juxtaposes acrylic painting materials on the canvas in dots with a fine brush tip without mixing colors, and mixes the colors on the viewer's retina, aiming to create an expression that is completed in the viewer's visual perception. I try to express black (shadow) without using black and (light) without using white.
