Why do we climb mountains?
Because we like to challenge ourselves to hardships? Or because we crave a sense of accomplishment? Or because we try to exceed our limits, or find the breathtaking beauty of nature?
In the summer of 2019, I went to Aiguille du Midi hoping to see the beautiful view of the Alps from there. When I got to the top, however, the area was largely covered by clouds, and I did not have a clear view. I was looking around when I saw trekkers walking very close to the edge of the mountain, heading towards one of the peaks. As I have acrophobia, just watching them walking so close to the edge made me nervous. But at the same time, I was somehow inspired as it reminded me of the spirit of challenge that we all have, especially in vast and beautiful nature. I kept pressing the shutter for a while until they were out of my sight.
