A rare and ephemeral spectacle, a sea of clouds graces Hong Kong’s urban landscape. Clouds stretch across Victoria Harbour cloaking the vibrant cityscape underneath, while only the tall skyscrapers emerge from below like sentinels. This spectacle, where nature converges with the urban, casts a dreamlike aura.
In March 2022, after over fifteen years in Hong Kong, I witnessed the spectacle for the first time. One morning I awoke to the news and rushed to the Peak, eager to capture it on camera, only to find myself disappointed as the spectacle dissipated while approaching the Peak.
The pang of missed spectacle fuelled unwavering determination thereafter. Over the following weeks, I meticulously tracked the weather forecast to not miss another chance. Weeks later, when a forecast thankfully hinted at it, I quickly prepared myself and waited for the time to head to the Peak while monitoring the view from the Peak every 10 minutes.
It was just past 3 a.m. on a weekday, so I assumed I’d be among the earliest to arrive at the Peak. Surprisingly, however, a hundred photographers had already been there. Amidst this crowd, I managed to secure a spot. Luckily the spot gave the ideal angle to capture this spectacle despite the limited field of view due to the trees on both sides.
As clouds undulated gracefully over the city, its lights glowed from below, creating a symphony of nature meeting the urban. This ephemeral spectacle led me to spend the next several hours standing and capturing thousands of images.
After reviewing and editing those images, I formed a series named “Veil of Harbour”, which exclusively features the images that have been published on 1x.com, the world’s premier curated online photo gallery, or awarded by its head curators.

The image will be printed on Hahnemuehle's Fine Art Paper with pigmented inks to create an elegant yet fantastical mood. It also has a 7.5cm wide white border around it (i.e. the actual image size is 90cmx60cm).
This is a Limited Edition, and only 88 prints will be produced. Every print is made after ordered. It takes 2-3 weeks.
