Description

I used acrylics on this piece because the concept of this painting can be best shown through acrylics on stretched canvas.
This work was inspired by the world events that happened because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I wanted to have a bird's eye view of how the cities in Lockdown would best be portrayed in an artwork. I represented the challenges and the relationship that cities encountered during the numerous lockdowns that happened in my country and all over the world. The factors and conditions that we all had to undergo from code red level, yellow, orange, etc. I made this piece as an Expression if what I perceived and how I sought to uncover and capture something of the real world in a bigger picture.
I rendered this piece in a representational way by showing the roads and cities through color codes.

Concept

I have always been interested in Birds and their synergy with nature. One of the most interesting birds is the Sunbird because they always are seen with flowers and other ornamental plants. My concept here was to portray the Sunbird amongst the plants they usually interact with so people will be drawn to their colorful feathers amidst the plants and wonder at the beauty of nature.
This artwork is rendered in colored pencils on Fabriano artistico hot pressed paper. The size is 20 cm width x 25.5 cm height.
