    Description

Photographed on the island of Lombok this Coconut Octopus displayed a pose of power. I was diving at this particular dive site for a few days and managed to get this shot in the end on my last night dive.

Indonesia, known as the island paradise, is as rich below the waves as it is above. Part of a series of photos representing marine life around different Islands in the archipelago. This series of photos are taken over the last 4 years. Indonesia has implemented some huge areas for marine parks and ocean conservation, but there is still a lot to be done. The aim of these photos is to use black & white as a medium, to draw attention to the subject and highlight the character of the beings that live below the waves. Showcasing what we are striving to protect and why more needs to be done. The photos are a part of an ongoing personal project showcasing the wonders of the underwater world in an attempt to help create public interest.

Images are printed with revolutionary technology that is ChromaLuxe. ChromaLuxe has created a state-of-the-art coating that allows for images to be infused directly onto sheets of metal. This means that fine art, photos and more can be displayed virtually anywhere with more vibrancy, more clarity and a longer life than any other print medium.

    Concept

Still photography is my passion, it is a medium through which I hope to convey what humanity is losing on a grander scale than ever before in history. By specialising in various disciplines of photography I aim to capture life, culture and people in all aspects. Whether it is documenting the destruction of coral brought on by global warming under the sea, endangered wildlife that is now confined to mere pockets of the world, disappearing cultures or the loss of cultural heritage sites in nations having a hard time affording the upkeep.

Rather than focusing on the destruction I hope to bring to life the beauty of the subject to invoke an emotion that leaves the viewer in awe, to help them find their place in it and fuel interest.
