    Description

The graphic "Scribble" carries the expression of strong and earnest lines. The lines that pile up like a mountain are constructed by collaging the pattern of a towel with a border pattern captured in a photograph onto 3DCG. Without drawing freehand, this work embodies an attempt to expand the imagination from the expression of common objects. This time, the motif of scribbles with strength and vigor emerges as a story spun with inspiration from already existing objects.

The lines continue to run with distortions caused by collisions and stagnation. In this way, the pile of lines that has somehow accumulated quietly stores energy that seems to resist something while wandering. At the top of the mountain, a small human figure was drawn. In the figure standing alone, the clumsiness emphasized by the feet and the gaze calmly staring into the distance are seen as a spirituality that coexists in balance. In the Livng Things series, which is based on the theme of the activities of sentient beings, this is a piece that draws attention to the stupidity that people can possess.

This time, I made this picture by the method of canvas print. It is made by UV inkjet printing on 100% linen canvas that has already been nailed down. The advantage of being printed is that it is lightweight, weighing only about 400 grams. This characteristic makes it easy to decorate the walls of a room by simply hanging it with studs or nails, such as Daruma pins.

The back of the canvas is marked with the title, year of production, and the artist's signature, as well as a statement that the work is an open edition (no limited edition).

  • About this artist

    Concept

Atsushigraph captures and collages all kinds of materials, from hand-drawn drawings to photographs and 3DCG, to explore a freer range of graphics that break down the boundaries between digital and analog, real and unreal, and treats them all equally. The artist explores a borderless visual art form. The inspiration for such paintings often comes from a sense of impermanence toward the environment, land, and universe in which one lives, as well as empathy and acceptance of loneliness. It has been an important process for Atsushigraph, who suffered from schizophrenia at the age of 17, to heal the straggle with others that he had experienced for so long and to learn not to suffer from loneliness. It is also a document that reaffirms what is precious, as one of the people living on the street, sensitively aware of the atmosphere of a society that continues to be divided and discordant.
