Hong Kong, a bustling metropolis defined by towering skyscrapers, teeming streets, and the constant hum of life, may seem like any other modern city. Yet, within a mere 15-minute car ride, it reveals a serene and untamed nature, setting it apart from its urban peers.
With over 500 trails across the city, each a unique blend of pristine wilderness and harmonious coexistence with the urban backdrop, Hong Kong offers a rare juxtaposition.
Among these, the Red Incense Burner Summit stands as a beloved destination for both hikers and photographers, offering a panoramic view that unveils the majesty of Hong Kong Island and the sprawling Kowloon Peninsula. The allure of this spot is amplified during the summer, when the sun gracefully descends between the two regions, casting a breathtaking sunset.
“Orange Sky” was captured in January 2022, while the sun still graced the sky behind Victoria Peak.
Earlier that month, I had been fortunate enough to capture the enchanting scenes with sunbeams gracefully adorning Victoria Harbour. Eager to explore different perspectives, I went to the Red Incense Burner.
However, on that particular day, a slightly overcast sky concealed the sunbeams I sought. Yet, as the sun dipped below Victoria Peak, it transformed the sky into a breathtaking tapestry of orange, casting a spell over the Kowloon skyscrapers. In the distance, a hazy sky wove an ephemeral dreamscape. I continued to press the shutter until darkness enveloped the scene.
