    Description

Fossils waiting for time" I depicted a quiet, stretched out time, as if time had stopped, by looking at the line of pylons often seen on the road. The pylons on the street are a common sight, depicting a quiet, stretched out time, as if time has stopped. This is one of the three works in the "Marusankaku Shikaku" series. This page is for the sheet only, not framed. The artist hand-draws the plates for each color, and hand-prints each plate by silkscreen. • About this artist

    Concept

Setoh Aki is a painter from Chiba, Japan. She paints mainly landscapes as her motifs. She uses familiar landscapes that are part of our everyday lives as motifs, but they give the viewer a strange sensation. She wants to express the strange sensation she feels in her paintings. To this end, she explores the use of landscapes to stand for the rhythm and time of that strange feeling. The reason why her motifs are landscapes can be attributed to her sensitive nature to perceive information about places and spaces in her daily life. She is sensitive to the atmosphere of a place and the people who inhabit it. She has always wondered why seemingly simple landscapes have such a variety of personalities. Setoh Aki uses acrylic paint as her painting medium. She also uses oil paint, pencil, colored pencil, and pen. She also does printmaking, having studied printmaking at art college. Her technique is silk-screening. Something magical that we have forgotten. Whenever viewers see her work, they can access that sense of wonder. No matter what is going on in the viewer's life, her work always brings them back to the center of themselves. And the person is transformed into a slightly different person before and after seeing her work. It's as if the person's cells have been recombined. She hopes that her works are like such a device.
