About materials
I use Japanese paper for my works because I am attracted to its characteristics of robustness and unique texture.
About the medium
This work was created digitally. Printing was outsourced and printed with a printer suitable for high-resolution printing.
About the framing
In order to maximize the appeal of Japanese paper, a mounting process called "ukikashi geta" is used. The edges of the four sides of the printed Washi paper are left with the ears of the Washi paper, and by adding thickness to the center of the panel, the Washi paper can be displayed without loss of the ears.
Concept of the work
Today, media are becoming so advanced that they are said to be advancing day by day, and in the future, they will be constantly changing according to human behavior. We believe that information will be customized to meet individual needs and desires, and that information will be used in a way that is more in tune with our lifestyles. In addition, the development of social networking services will lead to interactive information sharing and participatory media, where the distinction between sender and receiver will disappear and the role of the media will change dramatically. Against this backdrop, the theme of this work is to consider the role of the book as a medium. Books are said to have their origins in the I Ching, which was created in China 5,000 years ago. Among the media, books are unidirectional, and the boundary between author and reader is clear. We believe that the book exists somewhere in the middle between the author and the reader. Also, a book cannot be read with someone else. Therefore, keywords such as "introverted" and "solitary" come to mind, and these characteristics of the medium are expressed digitally in a multilayered manner.
