Description

I painted cockpit art with contemporary imagery on a night view of Manhattan. Numerous planes are entering Kennedy Airport over New York City. They communicate with the air traffic controller's fast-talking voice. A sense of tension is in the air as they check the approach charts side by side at the prescribed altitude and speed. Numerous passengers will be watching with their own thoughts and feelings. They will carry their feelings on their wings. Canvas giclee stretched over a wooden frame. Size of the work 70 x 38.5 cm, thickness 1.5 cm. Surface is coated. Produced in Honolulu at a specialized studio.

Concept

An endless sea of clouds. The world I dreamed of as a child. The moment of the sunrise, a moment of many emotions, I was a sky traveler. Mr. Tetsuya Ueda is a sky traveler. While working as a JAL flight engineer on a 747, he also worked as an artist. His work has been covered by the mass media and newspapers. He has established a unique world of cockpit art as his art style, depicting scenes seen from the cockpit. His aim to become a professional artist was triggered by two watercolor paintings of size 80 that he submitted to the Prova Grand Prize Exhibition. They are Dreamer and Rome on the subject of Rome. The person in charge told me that Teppei Sasakura had judged the works and said they were candidates for the Grand Prize. The sketches were made at work, and they are the subjects of European and Hawaiian art. Through art, I have been able to convey the excitement of the sky. I would like to continue to create art, including landscapes, in the future.
