A path that enhances one's "I" through the externalization of defects (in the case of Fogacci represented by a distorted nose) through which the observer manages to identify himself and to go beyond what he is observing, thus enhancing the interiority . Theories already proposed by the French psychoanalyst and philosopher Jacques Lacan.

Rubens Fogacci (Bologna May 30, 1979), is an Italian painter and sculptor.
Rubens Fogacci was born in Bologna, Italy in Emilia-Romagna at Villa Erbosa. Fogacci early revealed a strong artistic talent. The formation of the young Rubens took place through the study of the great masters.
Fogacci started painting at the age of 15, creating his first painting, The Family, in 1994, many others followed, all characterized by a technique very close to his way of being, linked to the art of comics. In 2000 he began the academy of fine arts where he had the opportunity to meet various artists and masters such as Concetto Pozzati.
After leaving the Academy, because far from his expectations, the artist will decide to continue studying art by attending artists' workshops and life drawing and nude drawing schools. In the following years the first group and personal exhibitions will arrive in Italy and abroad. During the great global economic recession that began in 2008, Rubens Fogacci continued to work on his artistic research, centered at that time on the concept of "Extimacy". Thanks to this research, in the same year he was invited to exhibit in the French capital, in Paris. From that moment the artist will be invited to exhibit in various exhibitions in America, from Providence to Miami, until arriving in 2014 to participate in one of the longest-running events in the United States, Artexpo in New York, where he will be invited and will participate for following five years.

In 2015 in Italy the artist signs a collaboration with the Giorgio Mondadori publishing house, which in 2016 will publish the first monograph entitled "The Evolution of the Sign" which will be distributed in all Italian and foreign museums and in university libraries and bookstores.

In 2018, during a business trip, he got to know the great Scottish artist of Italian origin Jack Vettriano at his studio in London, whom Rubens has always followed since he was a teenager, and who will draw inspiration from that visit for the realization of some of his paintings, taking up the settings and atmospheres of the great master.

In the same year Fogacci wins the prestigious Ricoh Prize in the Pop Art section with the work "Portrait of Mina" which will become part of the Ricoh art collection, and published in Forbes Italia magazine.

In 2019 he crowned one of his dreams, exhibiting in Japan at the TIAF International Art Fair in Tokyo. Back in Italy, a work by Fogacci is selected for the exhibition at the Marino Marini Museum in Florence, for the exhibition Ex Voto for received art curated by Angelo Crespi.

Also during 2019, he has the opportunity to meet the Colombian master Fernando Botero at his atelier and to view several of his works live and some of his still unfinished works.

The two encounters with Vettriano and Botero leave an indelible mark on Fogacci's artistic journey, who will remain fascinated by their life stories and their artistic journey.

Today the artist continues to paint and exhibit all over the world.
