Concept

My love for distressed and weathered surfaces, colour, typography, and a coastal lifestyle, inspire a style all my own onto canvas using self taught techniques in acrylic and mixed media. My coastal 'pop art' compositions, these works focus on the large type, inspired by the early retro beach style posters which always caught my eye when walking along the beachside boardwalk towns in the States. My minimalist works focus more on colour, and movement, resulting in soft palette strokes over texture with textile, creating a sense of blurred motion reminiscent of the rolling waves or sand patterns on the beach. Most of my compositions include numbers, which are inspired by the beach boxes, boats, and marinas along the coastline, to also creating works with a clean horizon of simplicity and calm. No matter which composition captures your eye, all three have the heart of my work, the music sheets, which make up the horizon and are inspired by what I feel we all love most about the beach, 'the beautiful sound of the waves'. Life is my inspiration, and I look forward to bringing original art into your home.

Biography

Sabina D'Antonio is a self taught American-born Australian contemporary abstract painter. She first visited Australia in 2012, before making the permanent move in 2014 from the US state of Maryland to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula of Victoria, Australia. Before moving to Australia Sabina had successful solo and joint art exhibitions in the USA, and has successfully entered local and metropolitan art shows throughout Victoria, Australia.

Sabina has been selling globally via online galleries since 2011, along side physical galleries, as well as her own website and home studio in Australia.

At present Sabina's original coastal works are held in various private collections in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, Germany, Hawaii (USA), Austria, Singapore, Dubai, and recently Hong Kong.
