Artist Information

Takashi Sakai

Takashi Sakai creates art with pens only. He said that pen’s lines are not able to erase after you drew which can produce the lines with nervousness. Each line has its own direction which brings energy to the artworks. Takashi uses lines’ energy to bring life to the artwork.

Moreover, he always draws the line over and over again to make the layers just like drawing oil painting. Various directions of lines, invisible scars and using different tones and types of pens, those elements create the unique layers to the artwork which can’t see in normal pen drawing artwork.

Takashi said that his style was born from the experience of learning ink painting, history of comics, Japanese culture and knowledge of Western art.
