    Description

A small container that can be used as a lampshade I shaped it in my own way with the image of Jomon-style earthenware. I created it using a 3D pen and a 3D printer. I used a 3D pen for more than 80% of the work. The 3D pen cannot make the same object, as the temperature and humidity at the time of creation, as well as the press of the activation button, create subtle lines. The materials used are naturally derived PLA resin (also 30% of the total contains wood powder) and a glass bulb. When a small LED light is inserted into the work and the lighting is turned off, the light leaking from the gap depending on the size and angle of the LED light projects a mysterious pattern on the wall. (LED light is not included.)

  • About this artist

    Concept

My motto in the I Ching is "When Yin is extreme, it turns to Yang, and when Yang is extreme, it turns to Yin" and "Learning from the past". When I was 17 years old, I saw computer graphics (CG), and it decided the direction I would take. In 1979, the analog era was in its heyday, and even the word "CG" was unknown. When I saw the APPLE II demo screen on my computer, I felt the art of the future. Looking at it now, the CG with only rough pixels looks cheap, but the feeling of "light paint" that I saw at that time is still at the center of my ideas. The idea was to fuse the opposites of art (analog) and computers (digital). Although the digital age has evolved since then, I believe that the opposite, analog, will continue to be valued, as in "When yin is extreme, it turns to yang, and when yang is extreme, it turns to yin. I would like to re-create ornaments and objects from ancient ruins, shrines, and temples in my own way, in the style of today. Mainly the Jomon period. It's "learning from the past". Lines drawn on a computer can be duplicated as many times as you like. This is an advantage, but it is also a disadvantage. Lines drawn with a pencil are slightly different depending on one's feelings and physical condition at the time. In a sense, that line is unique in the world. The 3D pen is, simply put, a hand-drawn 3D printer. A 3D pen cannot draw clean lines. The lines are created by various factors such as the temperature and humidity at the time, your physical condition and mood, etc. Therefore, even if the lines are drawn in the same way, they will be completely different. Therefore, even if the lines are drawn in the same way, they will not be exactly the same. There is only one line in the world. I am hoping to express the geometric lines and undulating waves of the Jomon period using a 3D pen. On the contrary, I also work on steampunk-like works. I am aiming for a fusion of digital and analog.
