Concept

　The glass grains in Satochihiro's work are all natural quartz crystals scattered throughout.

　I first encountered quartz when I was researching materials as a designer and counselor. Scientifically, it is a mysterious stone that generates electricity when pressure is applied to it. It is also considered a very powerful stone and is the basis of precious and semi-precious stones. Traditionally, quartz is also a truly wonderful stone for purifying chi, calming down, and aiding meditation. Above all, it is an essential material for painting. The clear white color of Japanese paintings is made from powdered quartz.
　The power of a painting, which I call "collecting light," is that crystal collects light and makes the energy of the painting stronger and richer. I use quartz crystal as a sasaree (fine stone) rather than as a powder, and combine it with oil and acrylics. For a long time, I have been trying to capture the energy and chi of the soul in my paintings, which are rarely seen by the naked eye. One of my conclusions was to create the "Quartz Paintings" series and the works that followed.

　Quartz paintings are an outpouring of radiance, chi, light, and soul. It is the energy of life exploding, not exploding all at once, but radiating out into the universe, cell by cell, filling up and shooting out into the universe. It is a quiet but constant trace and record, a fullness and completion.
　I hope you can feel the silence, the peace, the harmony, the apology, and the wisdom toward eternity.
