Genesis Day Two

GENESIS 1: 6-8 kjv where it says "And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day."

When I read this scripture I thought of the water being separated from the waters above and below. I decided to paint water in the sky as clouds and the waters below as it appears in the sea with a clear separation being the sky.
I decided to use bright bold color for this painting because I thought about how God said let there be Light and how Light appears to brighten everything in the morning. This is what heavily inspired my color palette.

To create the waters above the firmament I used my Alla prima and impasto technique and style. This was used for the clouds to show beauty and the water below
