This work was created using 18 Shuttle Art colors on F3 acrylic canvas. The canvas size and paints are the ones I have been using most often, so I was able to create a stable work from start to finish. The forest seen through the fence is on the verge of becoming the past. The theme of this work is Okinawa, where I live. In recent years, there has been a lot of development. It symbolizes the environment that is being destroyed, and at the same time, it is a form of thought for people who have almost forgotten the spirit of Okinawa. There used to be a term called "chanpuru culture. It means a culture where different races coexist. It is now a dead word. There used to be a term called "Yuimaru". It is a dialect that means "let's live hand in hand with those who are different from each other. We don't hear it much anymore. This work makes me question my own roots. I wanted the jungle to be like a jungle, so I spent a lot of time on it. Technically, I mainly applied layers of paint. The base itself had been completed long before. I let the paint drip directly from the material and let the thread-like paint dry for about a month, waiting for it to harden completely. From there, I painted the canvas all black, giving shape to the way the thread-like paint rose from the canvas. Since the plan was to make it monotone, I used mostly black for the paint that dripped in threads. The rest of the paint was applied in all white using a brush made of natural materials. I wanted the fence to be close-up, so I just made a few final touches.
