By coexisting conscious and unconscious images, Shinpei creates works with the theme of "feel and imagine". His work is partially carved or stopped halfway, assuming there are people inside. By going back and forth between the finished part and the unknown part, he wants to remind the invisible person to the viewers.
His style of work is inspired by fashion design as his sister was a student of fashion school and he was surrounded by fashion magazines. A model on a runway for fashion is symmetric but the face and body are often covered with clothes and it is deformed. But still, their feet were out to walk, and the imagination that there were people inside was intense for Ryota back then. The carving of a person from a block of wood and the structure of a person wearing clothes was a natural connection to him which affects his style of work.
