Odin Barrios, a Zacatecan artist born in Jerez de García Salinas, is a plastic artist with undergraduate training from the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving: La Esmeralda and UNAM: The Academy of San Carlos and National School of Plastic Arts .
He has received training in various techniques and concepts of painting, ceramics and engraving with masters of the stature of Alejandro Nava, Nunik Sauret, Castro Leñero, Emilio Carrasco, Ismael Guardado, Carla Rippey, Per Anderson, among a dozen other high-end artists. .
The foundational axis of Odin Barrios' work revolves around the experience of the Desert as a surrounding entity, full of life and death that permeates our context and our historical past. Poetic geography where; As guests, we recreate dreams and daily life, social struggles and cosmogony originating from our human passage through this existence.
Odin has formal influences from the German Expressionism movement and the Dada and Surrealist movements of the last century, as well as the Mexican Popular Graphics movement.
On the other hand, Odin has been the recipient of several national awards and has been the recipient of several scholarships for pictorial production, his artistic production has been constant and every year he carries out numerous individual and group exhibitions at the national and international level.
He is currently a member of the Kunstverein artist collective in the city of Munich, Germany, where he has personally gone to hold various exhibitions and maintains close communication with the artists of that city.
At the same time, he has worked in the research of non-toxic engraving for artists, installing new work systems and alternative techniques in more than 14 Universities throughout the national territory.
