I was inspired to create this picture by Australian birds. They are so bright that their plumage, again and again, causes delight. Now I'm working on a whole series of paintings called "Australian Birds".
Ibises are everywhere in Australia, they are ubiquitous human companions and are similar to pigeons in Eurasia. These birds are long-legged and long-nosed. They are so noble-looking and walk in a proud fashion, which does not match at all with their arrogant habits. Ibises are captured by me in balancing poses on the fence. Their plumage plays wonderfully: from dark, black to delicate shades of peach.
This work is painted in large strokes on an ochre underpainting, which creates a special effect of light glow. The shades are matched to the color of the ibis plumage - in contrast. The picture will fit into a calm interior, unobtrusively attracting the viewer's attention.
