This work is part of the Needle Hole in the Mist series. Using Kakinouchi's unique painting technique, holes of about 1 mm in diameter are made one by one on the screen. This work expresses the daily efforts of people under the uncertain future by comparing it to making needle holes in the fog that covers the entire surface of the canvas.

Concept

Noriyuki Kakinouchi is a contemporary artist who paints "a world shrouded in fog. His first series, "Silent," depicts a world of foggy silence. He uses a technique in which particles of fog are fixed to the canvas. His next series, "Pinholes" and "Engraving lines," depict the artist's attempt to escape from a world that is entirely covered in film and fog by piercing, cutting, and carving. He uses a unique technique that removes particles from the canvas. His technique allows him to express dots and lines through movement, shading through intensity, and depth through procedure. His engineering thought process, combined with his previous social experience, led him to invent a new technique that solves the problem of achieving his goal of seeing beyond the covered world. With his new technique, he also foresees a further expansion from the abstract and minimal world.
