Artist Statement

Art is everything. Painting is freedom. Freedom to step inside of who we are and explore.

I am self-taught with an extensive background in video and photography.

I like to paint on a hard surface like a wall or floor; so, I can push the paint, scrape or sand it off. I like pushing hard into the surface. It makes me feel alive. There’s always tension, urgency in life, and this is represented by adding and subtracting different media. It’s a process. I keep doing that for as long as it takes until I am inspired by what I see, and that is where it begins to take shape.

The paintings become an inner exploration, surreal collage of space and time that I call mindscapes. They are the events of the day or yesterday, memories of the past, and muses of the future that come to the surface with faces inside of faces, animals, numbers, and expressions, all connecting into a single timeline.

Works are both digital, traditional, and combined.
