Concept of "Ark of the Earth

This series attempted to create a bird's eye view of life.

    We live by being connected.
Countless individuals are connected to form the next layer. The natural world is a repetition of this process.
It all starts with microparticles that are common to all things.
Then, cells, then individuals, then societies and ecosystems, and so on.
    There, time flows without stopping.

Life is like a ship that sails on the sea of eternity, connected to others and to the world.
In this series, the motifs of cells → whales (individuals) → maps (society)
The series expresses an ark of life swimming along the time axis, using motifs of different levels of hierarchy in parallel.

It is said that Japanese people have infinite sympathy for nature.
The nature that surrounds us, the life that belongs to that nature, and the sense of impermanence that they all undergo as they continue to change without end.
This series is an attempt to express the feelings we have held toward nature and life since ancient times.

In order to express the time axis, I used materials from the history of the world beginning with the birth of mankind as a stratum, and included a piece of paper of contemporary events in the uppermost layer of cell groups. There is no frame, but a metal fitting and string are attached to the back of the work for hanging on the wall.

  • About this artist

    Concept

    ◇Statement
The Japanese are said to have harbored feelings of sympathy and worship toward nature, and KISHIRO inherits this spirit and seeks a bird's-eye view of life and the world. Specifically, he expresses a microcosm by drawing motifs of different levels of hierarchy (cell → whale (individual) → map (society)) in parallel and using the time axis as a swimming ship. In recent years, he has also produced works centered on marine plastics, which are the antithesis of the mass-waste society that affects nature. People are also creatures subordinate to the natural world. KISHIRO's goal is to create works that encourage society to think about life.

    ◇Methods
KISHIRO applies contemporary art techniques that use everyday objects and images, which became active after Neo Dada, to compose his works by sampling and connecting them from everyday life, art history, biology, and personal history. His main works are semi-artistic two-dimensional works based on acrylic paintings. He aims to create works that fuse the Japanese sense of beauty derived from nature with Western philosophical elements. (2022.11.3)
