My drawings and paintings are very personal, they capture my everyday life, my reaction to things I experienced, either yesterday, in my childhood or even events I imagine. My portraits pick up on my own longings. As an artist, I have always been drawn to the challenge of capturing the essence of a subject as succinctly as possible. For a long time I have also been fascinated by portraits as symbolic images that not only show the superficial appearance of their subject, but also what lies behind it.
