Formerly inhabited areas, real or fictitious, shows Lost Places. Originally the focus of a long stay or a short rest. Inhabited by humans or animals. Human intervention has changed this place. But little by little nature reclaims it.
In many drawings I integrate old, partly coloured, faded paper or newsprint into the picture motif. By sanding it down several times, I reveal a past to the viewer that is similar to the drawings on walls of old buildings or caves. On this 'weathered underground' I also apply drawings from observations of nature, human and animal world with ink and art-pen. These are either minimally or partially sanded off again, and only a 'framework' or some contours remain. On this basis, the motif is gradually completed to the finished picture.
