    Description

I had heard about these rare trees considered "living fossils" from an evolutionary point of view. In Italy, they are found only on the Pollino, very far from me and at an altitude of over 2200 m above sea level.
Due to the difficult climatic conditions that they undergo on the exposed rocks of the mountain massif, they assume forms that evoke extraordinary sensations in the mind of those who contemplate them. The name "loricato" is due to the bark that in the oldest specimens, even over 1000 years old, recalls the armor of Roman soldiers.

Giclée print on Hahnemühle cotton paper - museum quality.

Like all my limited edition works, it is also available in the sizes 60x45 CM and 97,5x130 CM, while the 5 copies last.
    Prices: in CM 45x60 size (€ 510 - copy 2/5) and CM 97,5x130 (€840) - Fineart print without frame

This print will be shipped inside a rigid tube together with its certificate of authenticity.

  • About this artist

    Concept

Luca Zampini is an artist based in Ferrara, Italy. His photographic work has been exhibited and published nationally. Luca's current series "HUGS - The Tree Calling" explores his passion for trees, his favorite subject. He has always loved them and today many know him as Tree Photographer. However, Luca doesn't always succeed in portraying them: he can't photograph the ones he feels suffer, such as the trees in the cities that are not free and he rarely does so when he finds them next to others because he can't perceive their individuality. Above all, he does not photograph to simply show beautiful trees. He search for trees in the world that call him and uses photography as a means to make the unique and unrepeatable moment of their meeting. Over the years he has identified a few key points based on the feelings that arise within him at that specific time. He expresses them in photography with overlapping shots; often almost unwatchable individually but which find meaning in their union. The idea that impelled him to realize this life project was to give the trees something more than a simple, beautiful composition: a piece of himself as he has met and experienced them.
