Concept

Captivated by the human being, by the gestures and attitudes that emerge. I observe and dissect human beings in all their similarities and diversity. Capturing the experience of each person on a face or body, following the path of every wrinkle, scar and mark of time, is what inspires me and drives my work. Being born here or there ... everything differentiates us and everything connects us in this incredible human adventure that is life. So different and so similar, my subjects are universal and an invitation to travel. To sculpt, I use clay and its infinite possibilities, playing on the raw character and strength of the clay for certain creations, but also using the richness of glazing for others. The ancestral Japanese firing technique (Raku), which marks my sculptures with random cracks, echoes the marks that life and the events that mark it leave on each individual over the years.

Biography

Initially drawn to drawing and painting, sculpture gradually became an obvious choice for me. Today, I devote myself exclusively to it, and it has become my entire artistic expression. I began my training in various private workshops in Belgium and France, which enabled me to acquire the various skills necessary for modeling in clay, as well as firing techniques. These various training courses were completed by classical sculpture training at the Académie des Arts de Braine L'Alleud (Belgium) - sculpture section, from which I graduated. This training has enabled me to perfect my knowledge of different techniques and materials, although clay remains my preferred medium.
