I combine two-dimensional works using Chinese characters, alphabets, and symbols as motifs, and three-dimensional works using them as a framework.
Kanji is a hieroglyphic character, so the character itself contains the meaning and its image. Therefore, taking into consideration the meaning and image drawn out by the letters, I develop the work into a three-dimensional work and a two-dimensional work, and exhibit them both in the same space. I have been pursuing the interestingness of the shape of letters and the tension that arises between their meanings and the images that spread from them.
More recently, I have been pursuing the interestingness of letter forms in a simpler way, while also incorporating simple symbols and symbolism.
