Photography is like painting, reconstructing, piecing together, and composing what you see in your eyes, and pressing the shutter when all the elements are in place. The viewfinder is like another parallel universe, like peeking at all beings from the observer's perspective, reflecting the stories and emotions in the eyes on the negative or sensor behind the shutter curtain, locking the eternity of the moment. Through the scenery seen by the eyes, 8lien reorganizes the fragmented and irregular elements and presents them to you and me. It may be the ordinary streets, the ordinary people and things, the beauty that is familiar to the public but never cared for. I admire Saul Leiter's colorful and collage-like compositions, and I also appreciate Alex Webb's way of condensing images. 8lien is like an unpolished diamond, unnoticed, just like the images he captures, those undiscovered corners of the city, but he still carries his camera and continues on this path.
