Immerse yourself in the world of colors, patterns, prints, feel the feel of different types of fabrics, this is my world.
The approach is different than usual. The usual approach would be to go on a shopping spree with a certain motif in mind and have the desired centimeters/meters cut from selected bales of cotton fabrics. But I prefer to work with material that others consider worthless and throw in the garbage can, for example, waste in the manufacture of tablecloths / curtains. There is always scrap in fabric manufacturing as well. I have been able to tap into several sources from which I get interesting, high-quality fabric scraps.
By working with limited, given quantities, my creativity is stimulated and modern work with a bolder color scheme is created. It is also of great concern to me not to let the garbage mountain grow unnecessarily. Not for nothing I have chosen the logo "design instead of throw away". My murals should not only be in the home and office visual highlights, but fabric also contributes to a feel-good atmosphere and improves room acoustics.
I often get inspiration for creative design from works of fine art, for example, at Art Basel. The latest works deal with works of the artist Frank Stella, who started with graphic patterns.
Color compositions I like to look at nature. I prefer strong, bright colors that reflect my positive outlook on life, but I also like to work with contrasts. Quite a few of my works are in black and white. I love to experiment, try and apply new techniques.
The path to the finished work:
With the selection of the fabrics used and the calculation of the dimensions begins an exciting, but also time-consuming work, which unfortunately includes the unraveling and again corrective sewing. With 10 seams, a deviation of 1 mm per seam means a total deviation of 1 cm, which makes final joining impossible. But when the piece is stretched on the stretcher and stands up to my critical scrutiny, the efforts are forgotten.

After more than 30 years as the owner of a tax firm, you might think that enough is enough with numbers.
But no, it goes on. In the meantime, I am no longer interested in turnover, profit or taxes expressed in euros, but in centimeters, inches or angles. Even during my time as a tax consultant, I occupied myself with patchwork as a form of compensation.
In the meantime, I hardly ever work with typical patchwork fabrics made of cotton, but with waste that accumulates during fabric manufacturing. It's no coincidence that my new business is called "design instead of throw away". Currently I make self-designed large-format fabric pictures, also I have discovered discarded pallet cords as a working material.
