Concept

Nonsky (Nelson Lance Donsky) is an unusual and eclectic artist whose work is unbound by a single conceptual style, a 'style of no style'. Trusting that his mind and hand alone will create a style that is ever evolving and resists creative stagnation. This creative process is sometimes intentional but just as often it occurs through unintentionally, accident, inspiration, coincidence, and improvisation. Choosing to create colourful high quality works across a range of visual art rubrics, most of his finished works focus on neo-impressionism acrylic paintings and mixed media approaches along with forays into digital media. With a sometimes representational and illustrative touch influenced by the genre's of fantasy and cyberpunk along with transcendental themes, much of Nonsky's arts show's the artist's deep emotional landscape through a glimpse of the complex imagined geometry, symbolism, and colour of the mind's eye. Alternatively, the artist sometimes creates completely abstract improvisational work as well as experimental pieces, in both cases there is a range of approaches from inspired sublime and visionary art methodologies to the completely emergent and joyful.

Biography

Nonsky (Nelson Lance Donsky) (born 1991) has been creating art as long as he can remember, dating back to his early childhood and through his teenage years in Brisbane, Australia. His parents ran a bakery, and eventually a property management business in Brisbane, where Nelson worked as a property manager and kitchen hand respectively at various times in his formative years.

He began to look at Visual Art as a vocation after a serious accident in 2013 at the Burning Man festival (Nevada, USA) and sustaining severe burns while attempting to rescue a fellow fire performer. Upon completing his recovery from the subsequent skin grafting operations and returning to Australia and bringing with him a new-found determination to study and commit to his professional calling of being an artist.

To this end, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Creative Industries with majors in Art History as well as a minor in Vis Arts Practice and Graphic Design. While studying, he also took on two internships with sculptural artist Mike Riddle and working in a commercial art gallery TWFINEART respectively and a mentor-ship with professional artist and arts facilitator John Armstrong. Since graduation, he has participated in several festivals as an artist (DIY Festival - Audience Choice Award 2015, Burning Man 2017), as well as Arts Coordinator and Facilitator for major arts and music events such as Modifyre 2016 - 2020, Jungle Love Festival 2020, and the Woodford Folk Festival 2018, 2019.

Since then, he has focused on creating a body of work while contracting as a commercial and live artist, illustrator, signwriter, and graphic designer. He has also continued to produce new works endlessly experimenting to perfect his craft while collaborating and facilitating the arts in his community.
