"Artist Berrin Tunçel was born on July 2nd., 1957 in Ankara, her ability to art was recognized at her early childhood. She participated in a co-exhibition in Eskişehir when she was only six. Meanwhile, she had private art lessons. She completed her education in Istanbul where she moved with her family in 1968.
Her highly gift which no academic education ever configured and her style contradicting with the awards of an Islamic country in 80s' Turkey where existed cultural dilemma of west & east, and also political & fínancial crisis made Berrin Tunçel a distinguished artist among the others in that era till today.

In mid-eighties Berrin Tunçel, while being known especially for her realistic, human portraits where she posed herself as a model, her relevance to cinema and music proved her having a great artistic mind and being the sole famous woman artist in her geography. In 1987 the Artist began sculpting, Tunçel also incorporated traditionalism with her art works by presenting the traditional aspects of Turkish society. Her first art show was in the winter of 1981 when she was yet 23.

Berrin Tunçel, having an appreciable point in Turkish media since 1981, opened various exhibitions both local and abroad, in London, Paris, Madrid, Nicosia, New York.

The artistic mentality of Berrin Tunçel exposes that she has been ahead of Turkish art expansion through the West in Turkey.

Recently the renovation of numerous young artists, expressing themselves in realistic, figurative art style proves that Berrin Tunçel is a pioneer of a novelty that originates from the West, reflecting contemporary and exempt concepts.
