Eternal Trio" is a series title for landscapes in which "three beings" are scattered about. Extinction" is a series title given to works with a forest motif. This work was given this title because it contains both of these elements. The inspiration for this work came from a certain forest on Ishigaki Island, Okinawa Prefecture. Based on this image, I made a full-scale drawing on tracing paper. The drawings are based on photographs, but I do not intend to faithfully reproduce the photographs. It acts as a starting point to construct my metier and create a scene that can only be found in the paint. In other words, it can be said that this work was created through the process of "using the structure of the forest to create a painting freely," and this is also Fujimoto's basic approach to figurative sources. In the production process, a full-size line drawing is created on a separate piece of tracing paper, similar to a large sketch of a Japanese-style painting, which mainly describes the arrangement of motifs. Then, the layer composition of colors to be applied is planned. Once the plan has been finalized to a certain extent, the line drawing on tracing paper is transferred to the panel and the main painting process begins. The panel used is double-sided. The panel is painted on the entire surface of the screen, sides and back. The same color as the background is applied to the sides of the panel. After the screen is pre-painted by underpainting and scraping to destroy the grain of the wood, more than 20 layers of paint, including partial and solid, are applied as a descriptive layer. Then, grinding with water-resistant sandpaper is repeated until a finished screen is found. The slits on the back of the work are ventilation ducts within the panel, but pins and hooks can also be hooked during installation. The smooth machined matiere also allows the work to be wiped clean with a dishcloth. The technique of creating the picture plane by layering and grinding acrylic paint is no different from that of the non-objective free painting "Layers of Color. While there are variations in the screen style of Fujimoto's works, the matiere and sense of coloring in each work are consistent. One of the characteristics of painting, "multilayered magic," is to be fully utilized. A scene that can only exist by paint on a support. I discovered "layering" in 1999, a method that has been in line with my desire since the time I started to create. Since then, I have been pursuing the possibilities of painting with this "layering" method.
