My name is Anna Shabalova and I`m a full-time and independent professional artist from Ukraine.
I was born in 1982 in Ukraine. At the age of 11, entered the state art school. There at first became acquainted with the works of such famous surrealists as Dali and Magritte. Their work impressed me immensely and influenced the formation of my own vision of the world. At school, I gained basic knowledge and skills but did not paint for several years after graduation.
At that time, I did not have the opportunity to enter a higher education institution of art, as all such institutions were located in other cities, and the family did not have the financial means to pay for education in another city. Therefore, after graduating from high school, entered the local university with a degree in economics. But the love of art, we can say, was in my blood, and during my studies at the university, I gradually returned to art. At first, I focused on the creation of surreal graphic works, and later returned to oil painting. During studying at the university, my first personal exhibition took place, as part of a student project. After this exhibition, I received an invitation to join the Union of Artists of Ukraine but refused, because at that time I saw no prospects in this profession (such were the realities in the post-Soviet countries) and perceived painting as a hobby.
After graduating from university, the period of finding and realizing myself as a creative person began.
The turning point in my life was the first after the birth of my 2nd and 3rd son. Family and children needed absolute involvement in the process and I decided to return to painting. So I had the opportunity to combine painting and raising children. During that time I created many realistic and surreal works. Since 2019, gradually managed to enter the international market, and now my artworks are found in private collections in the USA, Israel, Europe, and Ukraine. Also in 2022, I became a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine.
