I am interested in layers, what it is to be human, sensuality, sexuality and what it is to be female in the world. And the fleetingness of youth and it’s elusiveness. My art has been described as hauntingly beautiful, otherworldly, and sensual. I work on paper and oil on canvas. Influences Lautrec, Degas, Dumas, Cezanne, Picasso, Matisse, Warhol.

Biography

About me:
New Zealand born Fiona Maclean is a Painter and Visual Artist. After studying Art, Design and Production in New Zealand and Australia, she then continued her studies in Fine Art at Parsons School of Art (The New School) in New York City. Unfortunately due to a family tragedy her studies were cut short and had to return to Australia. Fiona continued to paint and is mostly self taught. Fiona was chosen as an ‘Artist to watch’ amongst a strong emerging talent of Artists in the ‘One to Watch’ series released by Saatchi Art. Her paintings, drawings and illustrations are featured and recognised in international art, fashion and design reference books and magazines. As a Fine Artist her paintings and artwork hang in private collections around the world and appear in International publications. Fiona has exhibited in Australia, London and New York.
