My inspiration can come from anywhere.I began to think of memory as being something like a puzzle where some of the pieces are missing. Small things may stand out of an event and the main story can be lost or distorted. Memory embellishes and removes as it redesigns the past to suit itself. In this current series, “Memory Fragments,” I have begun collapsing, removing and rearranging parts to create a new narrative.

Seth King graduated from Tyler School of Art in 1983. After a few months in Rome he moved back to Philadelphia and then to Brooklyn two years later. During the 1980’s he had some small success showing paintings in the East Village but towards the end of the decade found himself drawn more to poetry, film and video, and stopped painting.
He got married. Formed a production company. Children mysteriously appeared and took root. By 2015 his midlife crisis was growing in direct proportion to his reading glass number. He got tired of sitting in front of computers in a dark room and missed the physicality of drawing and painting, quit production and rented a studio in Brooklyn, and began to scrape away the mold to see if there was anything good underneath.
