Takeru Amano was born in Tokyo in 1977 and moved to the U.S. in 1997 to study printmaking in New York. He creates works in a unique style of expression he calls "NEW ART," a fusion of traditional subjects such as religious paintings and still-life paintings with pop art. His works, such as portraits of human figures drawn with simplified lines against a background of bright colors such as yellow and pink, and works depicting fragility through the use of skulls and candles, have been exhibited in Tokyo, Hong Kong, New York, London, Paris, and other cities in Japan and abroad. He also collaborates with artists on CD/LP jackets, apparel, and various other projects.
