The name Guru came from some philosophical aspirations, yoga teaching, and years of dedication to the divine and sacred. The term originates from India and brings meanings that directly connect with the Guru's purpose.

Starting with its etymological interpretation, which is based on the metaphorical representation of darkness and light, in which the Guru is seen as the one who dissipates darkness. Also, according to Hinduism and Buddhism, Guru is one who has high philosophical knowledge. Therefore, the term is often used to designate a spiritual guide.
The Guru project aims to bring the pure and the beautiful to all people through art. More than just an art workshop, an architecture office, or a landscaping consultancy, we want to be a space of integration between humans and nature. A commonplace where dreams are possible, and shapes take on color and life to transform homes, relationships and communities.

The Guru was born from a meeting of souls between Ana Lino and Tiago Scarpin, from São Paulo. Marriage awakened in both a genuine desire to bring some of the divine beauty they see in nature and art to the daily lives of the people around them.

Ana Lino has a degree in architecture, but from an early age, she discovered the gift of drawing and visualizing the potential of her ideas even before they left the paper. Tiago is enthusiastic about art and philosophy and enjoys constructive and manual skills. Together, they share the entire creative process, alternating roles in each of the steps, from sketching to the last piece applied.

The couple's first work came from a very special and familiar opportunity. At Ana's father's request, they accepted the challenge of creating a six-meter mosaic panel to compose the decoration of their house in São Paulo. It took six months of dedication, from the design of the mural to the last piece cut and pasted. The result only brought more certainties.

Since then, they always work with four hands. In an intuitive and almost meditative way, they discover in silence and in the exchange of glances the direction each work will take. Gradually, and with a lot of patience, the drawings are closed and the meticulous combination of colors compose the final result.

Inspiration

Among the duo's inspirations are two Brazilian and multidisciplinary artists, Burle Marx and Paulo Werneck. The presence of these two icons can be seen in small details of the Guru's works, whether in shapes, textures, or colors.

In addition to being a landscaper, Burle Marx was a jewelry designer, plastic artist, painter, sculptor, ceramist, and tapestry weaver. He brought in his projects his passion for Brazilian flora and the harmony between humans and nature.

Muralist Paulo Werneck was also a painter, designer, and illustrator of children's books and political columns for several newspapers. Responsible for introducing the mosaic technique in the country, its trademark is the use of organic colors and shapes in its panels.
