Maerschelle Rrose Douchechamp (b. 2003) is Anartist working across mediums such as drawing, sculpture, collage, installation, new media and found objects. Occupied by the notion that everyone is an artist, Maerschelle’s current research lies in the intersection of chance operation and appropriation. Central to his artistic production is the theme of archaeology of the everyday, as he attempts to turn ordinary objects into machines that produces new meanings.
His artistic production and reproduction transcend media and time, utilizing the ephemeral and intangible in the production of works that resides mainly in the digital realm. He believes that art is the only activity by which man shows himself as an individual, by this activity he can transcend his animal nature. As art opens onto regions that are not bound by time or space, at least this is what he believes in. In his works, Maerschelle obliges the spectator or the reader to become himself an artist and a poet.

Maerschelle’s works might seem a cynical parody: quick and easy, quite as good as slow and painstaking, so why sweat? He believes that his art is complete, when its accessible to the public. He stands by the notion that no work is complete without the observer who perceives it, as participation is crucial in creating the last layer and meaning to the work. The integration of data sets AI, GAN as another method for appropriation and digital participation will be the focus of Maerschelle’s practice in the future.
