Vaida Varnagiene is a Visual artist who uses a multidisciplinary approach in her art practice, whilst employing different media, such as painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and installation. Using a variety of materials, skills and processes, she is engaged to develop a contemporary art practice in a range of media.

Vaida's primary interests lay in painting, drawing and printmaking. One of the most important areas of her practice is to explore the relation between a painting and drawing, combining these two different techniques to achieve the possibilities beyond the medium. Using different methods and combining Wet (paint and brushes) and Dry (pencil, pen, charcoal) media she tries to develop a precise technique of mixed media art. Furthermore, printmaking is an ideal medium for her work enabling to achieve a range of effects employing traditional intaglio etching and mono print techniques. She uses these media as a process to achieve the graphic quality of the marks for most effective expressive purposes. With a contemporary and challenging aesthetic her career as the printmaker exerts an undeniable influence on her subject matter.

​Vaida’s interests are to observe and analyse cultural, philosophical and environmental issues, trying to understand a concept more deeply, using alternative meanings and employing the language of semiotics. Her work is an exploration of contemporary world, myth, and fantasy conveyed through mixed media and printmaking. Her ideas extend the boundaries between reality and imagination: utopias and dystopias, heterotopias, alchemy and illusion, that are all used in her work.
