Thomas comes from an engineering background; he served as a toolmaker and draughtsman in the aircraft industry before finally embarking on a career in Fine art. Although this engineering background was instrumental in shaping his outlook, laying the foundations for his fastidious attention to detail...
Thomas comes from an engineering background; he served as a toolmaker and draughtsman in the aircraft industry before finally embarking on a career in Fine art. Although this engineering background was instrumental in shaping his outlook, laying the foundations for his fastidious attention to detail and patience, which has carried through to his creative/teaching positions
He has broad experience within the higher and further education sectors within the UK and Asia, including lecturing at Newcastle University, Bradford College of Art & Design, Newcastle College, Gateshead College, Raffles design Institute, Bangkok and Asian University, Thailand.
As a practising artist Thomas is committed to a rigorous development and re-evaluation of his practice which is marked by a willingness to turn around his thinking during its development which gives it excitement and flair supported by rigorous execution. This has led to him receiving many commissions, exhibitions and residencies.
