9s Gallery by TRiCERA is pleased to present " Yuta Fukasawa Solo Exhibition - Blue Everywhere -" from September 22 (Thu) to October 10 (Mon), 2022.
Yuta Fukasawais an up-and-coming painter who is gaining recognition for his paintings, mainly landscapes, after graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2019 with a major in oil painting.
He continues to work in his own unique style, layering material brushstrokes that can be described as impulsive and leaving traces of his work.
Artist Statement
"Um, blue. You can't just paint landscapes."
I feel that I have usually used "landscape" as a medium to explore my connection with people.
This time, I will try to explore the connection with people using the color "blue" as a medium.
The color "blue" is a color that encompasses complexity and multifacetedness. It is a color that can represent not only things but also human emotions, as in the case of places and things, the sea and the sky, and sapphires. Seemingly relative emotions, such as sadness and melancholy, calmness and relaxation, can be signified by a single color, blue."
The artist uses the term "mental focus" to make a sharp distinction between the color reflected on the retina of the human memory and the color reflected on the retina of the physical eye. The "ubiquitous blue" exists in many places in our daily lives. How does one focus on the subtle nuances of "blue"? Fukasawa's painstaking exploration of personal memories and connections with others becomes the color itself, posing a question to us.
