Curator's Comment

A unique spirituality emerges from the torrent of colors

  • A painting that gives a completely different impression by changing the viewing distance.
  • The work elicits from the viewer an oscillation between a macroscopic and microscopic perception of things.
  • It can be read as if the purity of the color is imbued with a variety of meanings.

Artist Biography

Antonino Priafico was born in 1969 in Furnari, Italy. Since his teenage years, he has been interested and devoted to painting, especially landscapes and rural realities. He currently resides in Verona.

The artist believes that artistic energy comes from the "belly" and cannot be controlled. This energy is captured on canvas, where the artist intentionally breaks down motifs into colors and major components, rather than realistically representing what he sees. The purity of his full-body brushstrokes creates a chaos of color that is reminiscent of the Fauvist (Fauvisme) and Impressionist schools.
