Kikuchi Niji |Ko Kikuchi Exhibition

9s Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by KIKUCHI Niji from August 6 (Sat) to August 20 (Sat).

He is currently enrolled in the master's program at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, and lives and works in Tokyo as an artist.
Kikuchi Niji has been honestly tackling new approaches and productions, and recently won the grand prize of "Turner Award 2021".
He reinterprets the entity of "things," each individual object in succession with ambiguous boundaries, from an equivalent perspective, arranges them haphazardly on the drawing board, and then creates a new work of art that is a reflection of the symbiosis and value of each individual that emerges.
He continues to examine in a practical manner the symbiosis of each individual, the place of value, and the structure of equality that emerges from this.

In this exhibition, the first at the newly reopened "9s Gallery" in Nishi-Azabu, Kikuchi will present his latest works, two-dimensional works.
We are pleased to present a new exhibition space with more than a dozen of Kikuchi's latest two-dimensional works.
We hope you will enjoy the exhibition.

All of Kikuchi's new works will be on view and for sale simultaneously on the TRiCERA ART website. Please enjoy them from the following link.

Ko Kikuchi for this exhibition

The attitude of respecting things is to find a place for each individual that is not in order, superior or inferior, large or small, and to dare to dissipate the evaluation.
In the endless effort to put things of unequal value on an equal footing, feelings of neither emptiness nor love sprout.
In the repetition of this activity, how can things be placed next to each other and lined up? Or should they?

In my method, I treat each object as an individual on a flat surface and give them a shared relationship.
As they relate to each other, line up, and become connected, the individual that cannot be shared emerges. The more we wish to be together, the more we are involved.
The more we relate to each other, the more our unique individuality grows inversely proportional to our relationship with each other. In the midst of this inevitable variation, I am looking aimlessly at the place where things that are constantly moving should be.
