Concetto

Prima dell'inizio della guerra russo-ucraina su larga scala, durante i miei viaggi in Ucraina e in altri Paesi, dipingevo soprattutto natura e paesaggi urbani. Ma dopo il 24 febbraio 2022, il dolore per la perdita del popolo ucraino, dei soldati e dei civili, per le città distrutte, per il destino paralizzato di milioni di persone mi ha costretto a cambiare l'angolo di visuale e ora per me i motivi principali sono le persone, perché questo è il valore più grande. Anche se il mio sogno di un viaggio intorno al mondo rimane, è subordinato al tema della guerra. Quando dipingo la natura di altri Paesi, penso alla natura dell'Ucraina, che gli aggressori russi hanno minato. Quando dipingo i paesaggi urbani di altri Paesi, ricordo le città ucraine completamente o parzialmente distrutte... Quando dipingo persone di altri Paesi, ricordo con le lacrime agli occhi le decine di migliaia di civili, bambini e soldati ucraini uccisi e feriti.

Andrii Kovalyk, artista itinerante ucraino, è nato nel 1986 nella città di Chernivtsi, in Ucraina. Ha ricevuto una formazione professionale in pittura di icone; durante gli studi ha copiato icone antiche in alcuni dei più grandi musei. Durante gli studi e alcuni anni dopo, ha dipinto chiese e icone. Ma nel 2018 ha deciso di realizzare il suo vecchio sogno di fare il giro del mondo. Da allora, viaggia quasi ininterrottamente in bicicletta in diversi Paesi del mondo e dipinge a partire dalla natura. Attraverso i viaggi, conosce se stesso e il mondo che lo circonda, e con l'aiuto della pittura cerca di trasmettere l'intera gamma di emozioni e impressioni derivanti dalle storie che gli capitano durante i suoi viaggi. Partecipa e vince premi in mostre e concorsi internazionali.
Dipinti e icone sono conservati in collezioni private negli Stati Uniti, nel Regno Unito, in altri Paesi d'Europa e nel mondo. Ora vive e viaggia in Spagna.
