Japanese Paper Washi on Panel
Various stories such as the Greek myth “Danaë” and the Grimm fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty” exist all over the world, and many of them have a sweet impression on the story its self. Yusuke created this work by combining the impression of greek myth/ Grimm fairy and death or rather say 'soul' which has already vanished. He used mineral pigment and ink which is usually used in Japanese painting 'Nihon-ga', combining with the painting which was painted over old papers which is over 100 years old. Beneath old papers, he layered multiple materials such as gold Indian ink and ocher to create thick and stable support. Yusuke is also inspired by western paintings, artworks at church in Europe, which creates a surface shining with particles of gold and mineral pigments.
