    Description

I have the synesthesia that when I feel the taste of food, I see the pattern. The work begins with copying the pattern seen in front of you while eating a particular food. And I design the tableware from the pattern I saw. The plate made of the taste pattern seen from the beans becomes a bean pattern plate, and in the picture, the dishes related to the beans are arranged in an image such that they are served there. The dish is made up of two versions (black and gray) of silk screen. In this picture, there are four dishes, so I printed it eight times in total, and I realized that four identical dishes were connected, and soybeans and tofu were intertwined, and that they could last semi-permanently like textiles. It is a composition that makes you do it. I want to make one plate (pattern) stand alone as a picture, and then repeatedly entangle it like a textile to make the textile sublime as one picture.

  • About this artist

    Concept

I create original patterns with the sympathy of seeing patterns when I eat food. The pattern is called "Taste Pattern".
I am fascinated by the textiles that repeat the two-dimensional expression, and I want to condense it into a single picture, which is the style of my current style. All silkscreen patterns are "taste patterns".
As a belief, in order to remind me of the standards of beauty as a Japanese in myself, I like to see the tools of tea ceremony, Japanese gardens, and people like Ogata Korin, Kobori Enshu, Maruyama Okyo and Sesshu.
I want to make a work that exudes Japanese beauty from within, not from form.
Based on this "self-image", a graduation project at a university created the "shell" of living things on Japanese paper.
It is a work based on the concept of "a reminder of the existence of living things."
Later, the concept was transformed into painting, and the existence and non-existence of living things was at stake.
