コンセプト

私たちが生活を営む世界には、「目に見えるもの」と「目に見えないもの」があります。「目に見えるもの」とは自身の身体や他者の姿、物や自然や映像などなどあげればキリがありません。「目に見えないもの」とは何があるでしょうか。例えば、電波や光の波長、ウイルスなどのミクロな細菌類、遠い宇宙などなど。数多ある「目に見えないもの」の中でも最も原初的であり、私たちの生活に根付いているものとは、人間の「意識」ではないでしょうか。我々人間は一人一人がそれぞれに意識というものを宿して生きています。意識とは私たちにとって生命としての根幹を担うものであり、それでいてその存在を目で確かめる術はありません。しかし、私たちが唯一、意識にアクセスする方法は私たちが生活する世界の方へと意識を向けることであると考えます。世界の姿を見ること、音を聞くこと、匂いを嗅ぐこと。我々がもつ感覚器官が世界にアクセスすることにより、私たちは意識の存在を自覚することができます。作者はこの意識の存在の中に抽象性を見出したいと考えます。作者にとっての抽象画に対するアプローチは、まずは世界に触れること、そしてそこから感じ取った世界の気配を作品に投影させることにあります。つまりは、作者自身の感覚器官に映る世界と、それに対する感じ方の双方のイメージを重ね合わせていくことになります。その為、具体的な色や形よりも、簡素化されて名称を失わせた形態に色彩やテクスチャーを与え、それらの形態を構成的に画面に配置させ、対象から漂う気配に意識を向けながら、作者の意識と世界の結びつきを絵にすることを試みます。その取り組みは、抽象絵画による新しい感覚的再現性の探求とも言えるでしょう。
