A calligraphy of a character '建' which means 'to built' in Japanese. Kojo Kaneda created this work because the hieroglyphics of this character was fun and interesting. As the word source, the left side is the form of the ritual barrier, and the right side has a brush-like hieroglyphics, and it has the meaning of defining or building the fortune or earth aspect. It is a work that I drew without my heart and freedom, as I thought.

Artist Information

Kojo Kaneda

Kojo is a Japanese hieroglyphic calligrapher. His father is also a professional calligrapher. and from the age of three Kojo had played with calligraphy ink and brushes. He is fascinated by the beauty of the ink, paper, and its connection with nature. As a calligraphy artist, he aims to express this beauty. His current art form was influenced by an encounter with ancient hieroglyphic character engravings as he was drawn to its aesthetics and the negative space. He feels the patterns that have been used since ancient times is amusing and has a sense of purity. He hopes his viewers will see his art as being interesting and thought-provoking.
