The cinema was inaugurated under the Beaubien name on December 3, 1937. It then had 400 seats. At the time of its inauguration, it costs 30 cents in the evening and 20 cents in the morning for a movie screening.
In 1941, it was sold. It is a branch of the Canadian Odeon Theaters which administers it under the name of Le Dauphin.
In 2000, the owner found himself on the verge of bankruptcy and had to abandon at least 75 theaters including those of the Beaubien cinema. It was then that citizens, traders and politicians mobilized to save the institution and asked the Community Economic Development Corporation (CDEC) to support them in their approach. Thus, in the fall of 2001, the cinema was inaugurated under the name Beaubien cinema.
In 2002, the committee for the survival of the cinema and the CDEC of Rosemont – Petite-Patrie joined forces to preserve the institution which was the target of a possible closure. Since then, the company has enjoyed great success with the cultural and cin
